Local athletes who took part in the Autumn Open International Cross Country Festival at Sport Ireland Campus in Dublin

CROSS-COUNTRY
THE National Senior, U23, Junior and Juvenile Even-Age Cross Country Championships sponsored by 123.ie took place in Ireland’s most northerly County for the first time since 1999 with Rosapenna Golf Resort in Glengariff, Co. Donegal being the hosts.

Eavan Lyons of West Limerick performed well in a huge field in the U12 Girls. Clubmate Aoron Lynch performed with credit in the Junior men’s with both athletes having qualified through provincial results.

Ciara Dunne (Limerick AC) was 47th U18. Well done to all Limerick athletes whose clubs are very proud of them at having qualified for the National Finals.

UCD’s Sarah Healy powered clear in the final lap to finish a most clear cut winner, taking first and her maiden National Senior XC title in 27:05.

Ciara Mageen, who had been neck and neck with Healy until then was second in 27:20 with last year’s winner Michelle Finn third in 27:25 and thus earned automatic selection for the Irish team in the forthcoming European Championships.

Darragh McElhinny made it a UCD double as he had had just 4 seconds to spare from Hika Haso Tonaso in taking the Senior Men’s title.

PARKRUN
UL Parkrun resumed with an amended course. First finishers were Thomas McCarthy (19:11) and Thomas McCarthy (20:44).

Thanks to Limerick Council and all involved who helped to make it happen. Aogan MacDomhnaill ran the second fastest ever Parkrun time at the Newcastle West Demesne (16:47) with Yvonne Meredith first Woman (24:43).

Barry Crowe (18:43) and Sinead McDermott in a new PB time of 19:42 were best in Mungret. Killian Lynch (West Limerick) won the Skibereen 5 Mile in a time of 27:10.
