REVEALED: Limerick GAA launch new look jersey for 2019

The New Look Limerick GAA Jersey

THE reigning All Ireland senior hurling champions will begin the defence of their title in a new look jersey for 2019.

Limerick GAA in conjunction with O’Neills and retail partner - Intersport Elverys, have today unveiled their new home jersey which will be worn by the county’s footballers and hurlers. (Available from November 8)

The new look jersey carries no sponsor's logo on the front. Although JP McManus remains the main sponsor, it is believed that the benefactor has opted against using the 'Sporting Limerick' logo or the golden 'A' of his five star resort, Adare Manor on the kit. The jersey's midriff will now remain bare for the first time since 1990.

O'Neills will once again be the jersey supplier for the flagship senior hurlers and footballers. The Sporting Limerick logo has been on the front of the Limerick GAA jersey for the last 14 years with JP McManus and family the financial backers. The Adare Manor logo was used on all official team gear for August's All Ireland SHC final.

Golden Vale in 1991 was the first sponsorship to appear on the front of a Limerick GAA jersey in championship action. The following year it was Maddens Milk. In 1993 Shaws was the sponsor and remained for four years. This was followed, for a three year period, by Mid Western Health Board with their slogan Drug Free Cul. In 2000, Tommy Moran and his Red Cow Morans Hotel began four years as sponsor.

JP McManus has been the team sponsor since 2005. Limerick have worked on three year jersey circles, but the previous jersey was only in situ for the 2017 and 2018 seasons.

According to today's press release, the jersey has a traditional look and feel. See more below.

"The new Limerick GAA jersey design encapsulates the traditional look and feel of GAA jerseys by going back to basics. The Shannonsiders have broken current tradition with this new design concept, as it is the first inter-county jersey in a number of years not to feature a sponsor on the front as well as having a clean green look and feel to it, opposed to the intricate design on the previous jersey.

The 2019 Limerick GAA Home jersey will be available to purchase in-store exclusively from Intersport Elverys and online at Elverys.ie or oneills.com from Thursday the 8th of November [before it goes on general release on 11th November].

The team will be visiting Intersport Elverys stores in Limerick with the Liam McCarthy on Saturday 10th November. Follow the Intersport Elverys and Limerick GAA Official pages for more information"
