Ciara Neville competing in the 60m heats at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Birmingham on Friday
LIMERICK teenager Ciara Neville finished seventh in her heat of the 60m at the World Indoor Athletics Championships in Birmingham on Friday morning.
Eighteen-year-old Neville, of Emerald AC, clocked 7.47 seconds, behind heat winner Ezinne Okparaebo, of Norway, who ran 7.22.
Castletroy College Leaving Cert student Neville missed out on a place in Friday evening’s semi-finals of the 60m as a result of her placing in the morning heat.
Afterwards Ciara Neville said: "I wanted to do better, but it will help to build confidence for the future."
National junior record holder Neville has a personal best of 7.30 seconds for the 60m indoors, while her season’s best time is 7.34.
Neville, coached by Noelle Morrissey, finished in third place at the Irish Life Health National Indoor Championships in the Sport Ireland National Indoor Arena in Abbotstown last month in an impressive time of 7.35 seconds.
