Defender Shaun Kelly is returning to Limerick FC for the 2018 season
LIMERICK FC have added two more experienced signings to their squad ahead of the start of the SSE Airtricity League Premier Division season next month.
Limerick confirmed this Friday that experienced right-back Shaun Kelly has returned to the club.
The 28-year-old is a fans' favourite having played a part in each of the last seven seasons with Limerick.
Kelly parted company with Limerick FC last summer after being placed on the transfer list. The defender indicated that he planned to start a ‘new job in Limerick outside of football’ and has been lining out for junior outfit Ballynanty Rovers.
Donegal native Kelly returned to Limerick in the summer transfer window of 2015 having first joined the club at the same stage four years earlier.
Kelly previously played with Heart of Midlothian in Scotland and in the League of Ireland with Dundalk and Galway United. In 2014, he moved to Derry City for a 12-month spell.
The full-back made his 100th competitive appearance for Limerick against Cabinteely at the Markets Field in April 2016.
Limerick FC have also announced the signing of experienced striker Mark O'Sullivan, a First Division winner with Waterford last season.
Thirty four-year-old O’Sulllivan, who has also played for Cork City in the League of Ireland, will wear number 23 for Limerick in 2018.
O’Sullivan spent several seasons playing in the Munster Senior League, before joining Cork City in 2014 and remained three seasons at Turners Cross, winning the FAI Cup in 2016.
Kelly and O’Sullivan are the fourth and fifth signings made by Limerick in the past 48 hours following Cork City striker Conor Ellis, Bohemians midfielder Eoin Wearen and winger Billy Dennehy who had most recently been with St Patrick's Athletic.
New Limerick FC manager Tommy Barrett will take change of the Blues for the first time this Saturday when they host Galway Utd in a pre-season friendly on the UL 4G soccer pitch, 6.30pm.
