LIMERICK’S Olympic Games qualifier Fiona Doyle is through to tonight, Tuesday’s, 100m breaststroke semi-final at the LEN European Swimming Championships in London.
Raheen woman Doyle finished in 5th place in her heat in a time of 1:08.79 to progress to this evening’s semi-final in 12th place overall.
The 24-year-old has a best time of 1:07.15 and will be looking to get close to that in the semi-final to secure a place in tomorrow’s final.
“This is really just race prep for the Olympics so I’m trying to nail every detail that I can,” Doyle said.
“I was more nervous than I expected to be up on the blocks but it was a solid swim, my best swim of the year so far.
“I’m hoping to be much better in the semi-final and I think that there is definitely more to come”
Fiona Doyle’s 100m Breaststroke semi-final is due off at 6.42pm tonight. The championships are live on BBC 2 television as well as Eurosport.
