Doncaster secured their League One survival with a comfortable 3-1 win at already-relegated Northampton.
Grant McCann’s side leapt up to 13th in the table thanks to second-half goals from Elliot Lee, Hakeeb Adelakun and George Broadbent.
The visitors carried nearly all of the threat before half-time and they were close on several occasions, with both Lee and Luke Molyneux narrowly missing the target.
The best chance of the first period fell to Harry Clifton, whose close-range shot bobbled off the post, while Sam Hoskins was denied by goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala for Northampton.
Rovers continued to push in the second half though, Adelakun firing wide, and they took a deserved lead on 50 minutes when Lee was left unmarked to finish off a long throw at the back post.
A second arrived just seven minutes later thanks to Adelakun himself after he got away from the home defence and fired in off the post.
Rovers were in total control thereafter, adding a third in stoppage-time through Broadbent’s fine finish, before Cameron McGeehan grabbed a consolation with the last kick.
