Andy Woodman hailed the spirit of his Bromley side as they took one step closer to automatic promotion with a pulsating 0-0 draw against fellow promotion chasers Cambridge.
The U’s should have scored inside the opening 15 minutes when Ben Knight poked wide of Grant Smith’s goal when clean through on goal.
Cambridge also sent a header against the crossbar through Shayne Lavery, while Jude Arthurs saw a chance deflected over the crossbar at the other end.
Woodman said: “That was a great game between two teams not wanting to get beat but having a good go at trying to win the match.
“Cambridge will be kicking themselves they didn’t put one of those early chances away, but after that we got solid, created chances and could have nicked it at the end.
“I’m delighted with the clean sheet, we kept pushing and asking questions.
“We remain unbeaten at home and at this stage of the season clean sheets will get you promoted.
“Cambridge are a very good team and my team put in everything to ensure we wouldn’t lose, we stuck to our DNA and if we continue to do that we will get what we are fighting for.”
Cambridge manager Neil Harris said: “We didn’t take our chances in the first half, we really should have been two or three-nil up at half-time, that’s how good we were.
“But when you don’t take your chances it puts you on the back foot and we saw why Bromley are top of the league.
“They are relentless at what they do, they have runners and scrappers all over the pitch and they continually ask questions of you. They did that in the second half.
“I look at the overall performance with a glass half full, it was a strong performance and point.
“We mixed our styles well, it was a fast and furious game and we adapted well to the different elements required.
“There was a lack of composure at times in the second half but we still put our bodies on the line to collect yet another clean sheet.
“There’s a tinge of disappointment we didn’t win, but it’s a strong point.”
