Isaac Fletcher nets dramatic Barrow winner against Oldham to boost survival bid

Substitute Isaac Fletcher earned relegation-threatened Barrow a remarkable 3-2 win over League Two play-off chasing Oldham at the SO Legal Stadium.

Fletcher converted Elliot Newby’s cross in the first minute of stoppage time after Latics skipper Tom Pett appeared to have rescued a point for the in-form visitors.

Barrow stay in the relegation zone, a point from Newport in 22nd, although their position could have been even worse but for an amazing conclusion.

Oldham, beaten for a second successive game, led from the 49th minute when Wigan loanee Kai Payne converted a cross from Jamie Robson.

Micky Mellon’s side should have doubled their advantage but Mike Fondop was denied by Wyll Stanway’s save.

With eight minutes remaining, Barrow still trailed but stunned Oldham with two goals in a minute.

Danny Rose levelled before Josh Gordon charged down keeper Mathew Hudson’s kick and rolled the ball into an empty net.

Oldham hit back in the 88th minute through Pett’s low strike before Fletcher made himself the home hero.
