Airdrieonians survival hopes dented by Dunfermline comeback

Airdrieonians saw their William Hill Championship survival prospects suffer a blow after surrendering a two-goal lead in a 2-2 draw at home to Dunfermline.

Dom Thomas fired the Diamonds ahead in the 12th minute with a curling effort from range and Chris Mochrie added a second soon after the break.

Josh Cooper reduced the arrears before Lucas Fyfe levelled with five minutes left to leave Airdrieonians five points adrift of Morton in eighth.

Dunfermline moved into third, five points clear of Raith Rovers who kept alive their slim play-off hopes by beating 10-man Queen’s Park 2-0.

Lewis Vaughan notched his 100th goal for the club, picking himself up to convert a penalty six minutes before the break.

Queen’s Park had Ricki Lamie sent off minutes later and Vaughan doubled his tally early in the second half.

In League One, Inverness moved top after extending their unbeaten run to 15 games by winning 2-0 at Peterhead.

Goals from Alfie Stewart and Zambia international Chanka Zimba, his 19th of the season, helped Caley Thistle go one point clear of Stenhousemuir with three games remaining.
