Michael Skubala insists League One leaders Lincoln are an attacking side

Lincoln boss Michael Skubala insisted his League One pace-setters were an attacking outfit after their 3-0 win over relegation-threatened Rotherham.

The high-flying Imps extended their unbeaten run to 22 league games and currently sit seven points clear at the summit.

They have scored the most goals in the division and conceded the least, which led Skubala hit back at critics, who label his side defensive.

It was a first-half assault as Ted Cann’s own goal, Ben House’s effort and Reeco Hackett’s 10th goal of the season did the damage before the break at Sincil Bank.

“At this stage of the season, it’s about getting results,” said Skubala, whose side hold an 18-point advantage over third place.

“Nothing’s done until it’s done. This is football and everybody knows that.

“It was a professional performance from start to finish.

“The second half of the first half, we blew them away and got the job done. You need to concede less than anyone and score more, that’s the game isn’t it?

“I think people think we’re a defensive side, but we’re not. We’re a really attacking side. We get after teams.

“When you score that many goals you can’t be a defensive team – we’re an attacking team.

“The energy in this team, the desire to win battles comes from a really solid tactical structure.

“I’m really proud because it’s not easy. These opponents are playing for their lives and are desperate for the points.

“It was a good day at the office with a professional job done.”

For Rotherham it was yet another defeat as Lee Clark’s tenure began with defeat.

Clark took over at the Millers after Matt Hamshaw was shown the door in midweek.

And after his first game in charge, he said: “It was a tough game. Lincoln are a terrific side.

“They have all the attributes to be a winning team. It’s absolutely no surprise they are top of the table.

“In terms of us, there’s lots to think about and lots to work out. I knew it was going to be tough, that’s not going to change.

“There’s belief with eight games to go that we can get the job done. We’ll take things from the game in terms of what we didn’t do very well – we’ve given a couple of goals away that we’re not happy with.

“It’s a great opportunity for us this week to work on things. I’ve only had an hour with them so to work with the group will be really important.

“I’ll learn about their character and get my messages off as well over the next few days.

“We lost our way when we conceded the first. That’s something we need to address.

“We’ll have bumps in the road and we need to be able to react better to those.”
