Lincoln continue surge towards Championship with victory over lowly Rotherham

League One leaders Lincoln continued their surge towards the Championship with a comprehensive 3-0 victory over relegation-threatened Rotherham.

The Imps made the most of Cardiff’s lunchtime draw to go seven points clear of the summit as Lee Clark’s first game in charge of the Millers ended in defeat.

Michael Skubala’s promotion-bound side took the lead in the 18th minute as Reeco Hackett squeezed his shot under Millers goalkeeper Tedd Cann.

Rotherham’s best chance of the game came when Joe Rafferty nodded wide at the back post.

It was 2-0, 10 minutes before the break as Hackett found Ben House, whose deflected effort beat Cann.

Jack Moylan dragged an effort wide in the 40th minute before Cann denied House a second.

But tenacious Hackett buried a third in first-half stoppage-time as he fired home at the second attempt after the visitors failed to clear their lines.

It was a quiet second half with the game done and dusted.

Rob Street saw a strike blocked, while Sam Nombe was thwarted as George Wickens was quick off his line.

Lincoln are now unbeaten in an impressive 22 league games, whilst third-bottom Rotherham have won one in 10.
