Doncaster hold Bolton to goalless draw

Bolton failed to score for the first time in 11 League One games, sharing a 0-0 stalemate with Doncaster.

Steven Schumacher’s side have scored 12 goals in second-half stoppage time this season.

But there was no late show for Wanderers this time as the play-off chasing hosts drew a rare blank against lowly Rovers.

Cyrus Christie hit a post in the first half and substitute Rob Apter forced Thimothee Lo-Tutala into an 80th-minute save.

This was Bolton’s fifth draw in seven games and 15th of the season, further hampering their chances of closing the gap on top two Lincoln and Cardiff.

Rovers, three points above the drop zone, have not won at Bolton since 1987 and managed only one shot on target.

But they still possessed a threat going forward. Jack Senior was denied by Eoin Toal’s block, lively Luke Molyneux fired narrowly wide – also in the second half – while Jordan Gibson wasted a great opening in injury time.
