Swindon got their automatic promotion hopes back on track with a 2-0 victory over at Gillingham in League Two.
Gareth Ainsworth’s side created the better opportunities, but a defensive lapse allowed Aaron Drinan to net the opener after 68 minutes before Fletcher Holman came off the bench to seal his side’s first win in five games.
The early exchanges were fairly even but Gillingham nearly took the lead when Ronan Hale’s first-time effort on the turn surprised Connor Ripley, only to fall wide.
The striker went closer on the half-hour mark. On receiving the ball from Max Clark he attempted to find the top corner from 18 yards, forcing a brilliant one-handed stop from Ripley.
The goalkeeper was alert moments later to deny Omar Beckles’ header following Clark’s corner-kick.
Ian Holloway’s side took the lead against the run of play with Drinan pouncing on a missed clearance before beating Jake Turner from 18 yards.
Bradley Dack struck wide before Holman produced a clinical finish inside the box following Joel McGregor’s cross to wrap up the points.
