Late Tyreik Wright winner helps Bradford end losing run by beating Doncaster

Tyreik Wright’s late strike ended Bradford’s three-game losing streak with a 1-0 home win over Doncaster in League One.

The breakthrough goal came after 81 minutes as substitute Wright met Josh Neufville’s cross with a well-timed volley from 12 yards which went into the roof of the net.

Doncaster fashioned a couple of early chances with Harry Clifton firing over and Hakeeb Adelakun’s header bouncing up onto the top of the bar.

Bradford thought they had taken the lead after 11 minutes through new signing Kayden Jackson but the debutant’s finish was ruled out for handball after an apparent intervention from fourth official Paul Marsden.

The home side were frustrated by the decision but went close again when Neufville shot past the far post.

Doncaster had another big opportunity when Bradford goalkeeper Sam Walker spilled a high ball under pressure. Billy Sharp pounced on it but his effort was blocked on the line by Matt Pennington.

Bradford stepped it up and Jenson Metcalfe threatened from 20 yards while Max Power hit the bar and Bobby Pointon the post from the same attack before Wright struck the winner.
