Inothewayurthinkin is on track for the Paddy Power Irish Gold Cup, with Gavin Cromwell optimistic his Cheltenham Gold Cup hero can put his best foot forward at the Dublin Racing Festival.
The eight-year-old finished an eyecatching fourth in the Leopardstown Grade One 12 month ago, before turning the tables on Willie Mullins’ Galopin Des Champs in the Prestbury Park blue riband, but has somewhat underwhelmed this season beaten a combined 94 lengths in his two outings.
However, his handler has been encouraged by what he has seen since his last run in the Savills Chase and has his “fingers crossed” of an improved display in a race that could be littered with star quality.
“We’re happy with him and hopefully we’re going to see him next week,” said Cromwell.
“I’ve got my fingers crossed and I’m happy with him at home and hopefully he can bring that to the track and return to his best.”
The Irish Gold Cup betting is headed by Galopin Des Champs who will bid to join Closutton great Florida Pearl as a four-time winner of the race on January 31.
