Burton ended a three-game losing run in the league with a stunning 3-1 win over promotion-chasing Huddersfield.
Terence Vancooten, Jake Beesley and JJ McKiernan secured a precious win as the Brewers marked 750 games in the EFL by lifting themselves out of the bottom four.
Albion grabbed the lead in the fourth minute, a foul on Beesley giving Dylan Williams the chance to curl in a free-kick that Vancooten glanced into the far corner of the goal to mark his 200th EFL start.
The Terriers were looking to preserve their record as the leading scorers in the division, and they began to apply pressure on the Burton goal although it took until just before the half-hour to level matters. Lynden Gooch was the architect with a storming run down the right, crossing for Alfie May to finish with aplomb from eight yards.
Huddersfield saw plenty of the ball early in the second half but found themselves behind just before the hour when Beesley picked up the ball and lashed home a 20-yard piledriver to restore Albion’s lead.
Substitute Julian Larsson spurned a glorious chance to wrap up the points for Albion, sliding a shot wide when one on one with Town keeper Lee Nicholls.
But Larsson made amends shortly after with a lovely backheel assist to present McKiernan with the chance to drill home Albion’s third and wrap up victory.
