Lee Bonis’ first-half double helped end Chesterfield’s five-game winless run in all competitions as they beat Barnet 3-1 at home.
Mark Shelton’s goal just before half-time proved to be a consolation for the visitors as Liam Mandeville netted late on to secure three points for the Spireites in League Two.
Chesterfield took an 11th-minute lead when Lewis Gordon’s low cross found Bonis, who, at the second time of asking, managed to fire past Cieran Slicker.
The hosts then doubled their advantage in the 39th minute as Bonis glanced home Dylan Duffy’s whipped cross.
However, Barnet halved the deficit just two minutes later when Shelton nodded in Kane Smith’s deep corner.
The Bees then had two golden opportunities straight after the break.
First, Zach Hemming denied Callum Stead from close range, then Smith saw his strike from outside the box crash off a post.
Chesterfield survived the Barnet pressure and made it 3-1 with 10 minutes to play as Mandeville struck powerfully from the edge of the area.
