Bradford brush aside Reading to keep winning run going

Bradford clinched a third straight League One win as they beat Reading 2-0 at Valley Parade to stay second.

Antoni Sarcevic and Bobby Pointon both scored their seventh goals of the season in the second half.

Bradford created the first chance with Stephen Humphrys fizzing in a low shot that was well saved by Joel Pereira.

But Reading should have punished Aden Baldwin’s short backpass which Kamari Doyle latched on to in the box. Home goalkeeper Sam Walker blocked his shot before Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan drove the rebound over the crossbar.

Reading midfielder Charlie Savage shot over at one end and Sarcevic smashed wide from a long throw at the other in a scrappy first half.

Bradford broke the deadlock after 56 minutes. Ibou Touray’s cross was headed back by Bradley Halliday and Sarcevic converted from 15 yards.

Jenson Metcalfe and Sarcevic both went close to adding to the lead before Bradford made sure in the 84th minute.

Tyreik Wright crossed to the far post where substitute Pointon beat his marker to head home from close range.
