Crawley boss Scott Lindsey admitted his side’s mentality was not right during their 1-1 League Two home draw against Accrington and criticised not “enough personality” in the first half.
Striker Kabongo Tshimanga, who came off the bench to rescue Crawley a point in their previous 2-2 draw at Gillingham, repeated the feat by scoring in the 66th minute to cancel out a first-half goal by Isaac Heath.
Lindsey admitted that his hardest challenge this season had been to keep his team’s belief going and he was quick to confess that this game “felt flat”.
He said: “Mentality has to be bang on every game and in the first half, I didn’t see enough personality.
“In the second half yes, but not in the first half. A point is OK, but you want to win at home.
“I felt it was flat today and it was the mentality to churn it out – we don’t want to be a team who turns up for the TV cameras. We need to be consistent every week.
“In the second half we looked like we were trying to win it and I was pleased with that, but we must show more in the first half.”
The Red Devils are now unbeaten in four league games – their best run of the season – while Accrington are undefeated in their last six outings in all competitions.
Stanley boss John Doolan admitted his men were lacking a little more composure in both boxes.
He said: “We deserved at least a point. Crawley had a lot of the ball and they are a good side who should be higher up the league.
“In the end, I think we had more chances to score goals.
“We needed a little more composure in the final third and to be honest, a bit more composure in both boxes but we take a point and move on.
“I thought it would be a pass-and-move type of game, but it became a bit physical at times.”
