Potters Charm team set sights on Ascot or Newbury

Potters Charm is reported to be none the worse for his tumble in the bet365 Hurdle at Wetherby at the weekend.

The six-year-old was making his seasonal debut for the Twiston-Davies team in the contest, a three-mile Grade Two in which he was ridden by Sam for joint trainers Nigel and Willy.

He was the 13-8 favourite on his first attempt over the trip under rules, but his race ended early when he appeared to stumble on landing after the fourth obstacle.

“He’s absolutely fine, he’s cantered this morning. It was just very unlucky,” said Willy Twiston-Davies of the fall.

“He jumped the hurdle fine, he just seemed to trip and tumble over afterwards.

“It’s disappointing because Sam said he was very comfortable at the time, though of course they were a long way out, but we’re none the wiser.

“He worked well this morning, so we’ll work back from either Ascot or Newbury the following week.”
