Slough held off a second-half fightback from visitors Altrincham to reach the FA Cup second round with a 2-1 victory.
The hosts took charge of the match with two goals in five first-half minutes at Arbour Park.
Ansu Janneh, an early substitute for Tarik Gidaree, volleyed home for a debut goal after 32 minutes after a corner was headed into his path by Reiss Greenidge, and five minutes later Wiktor Makowski doubled the lead after good work from Tyrese Dyce.
James Gale pulled one back for Altrincham after 65 minutes shortly after coming on as a substitute, but the visitors were depleted in the 81st minute by the dismissal of Elliot Osborne, who had squared up to Makowski.
