Napoli extend lead at top of Serie A thanks to Frank Anguissa header

Frank Anguissa headed Napoli’s winner as the reigning Serie A champions moved three points clear at the top of the table with a 1-0 win at Lecce.

Cameroon midfielder Anguissa followed up his fine goal in Saturday’s 3-1 home win over title rivals Inter Milan with a decisive second-half header after Lecce forward Francesco Camarda’s penalty was saved.

Antonio Conte’s side, who began the day in top spot on goal difference ahead of Roma, notched their seventh league win in nine games this season and their second in four days.

AC Milan missed the chance to climb second as they were held to a 1-1 draw at Atalanta, who equalised through Ademola Lookman after Samuele Ricci had given the visitors an early lead.

In the first round of the Spanish Copa del Rey, Getafe forward Juanmi scored four goals in his side’s 11-0 win at Inter de Valdemoro, while Real Oviedo lost 4-2 after extra-time in an upset at Ourense.

LaLiga’s bottom club Girona needed an extra-time goal from Vladyslav Vanat to win 3-2 at Constancia , Valencia won 5-0 at Maracana, Real Sociedad were 3-0 winners at SD Negreira and Sevilla beat Toledo 4-1.

In the second round of the German DFB-Pokal, Borussia Dortmund won through 4-2 on penalties in an all-Bundesliga affair at Eintracht Frankfurt after a 1-1 draw and Heidenheim lost 1-0 at home to top-flight rivals Hamburg.

Wolfsburg and Augsburg both fell to surprise 1-0 home defeats to Holstein Kiel and Bochum respectively, while Borussia Monchengladbach beat Karlsruher 3-1 and RB Leipzig won 4-1 at Energie Cottbus.

In Tuesday’s other all-Bundesliga tie, Mathias Pereira Lage equalised for St Pauli in time added on at the end of extra time against Hoffenheim before his side went on to win 8-7 in the penalty shootout.
