Stockport put in a much-improved second-half display to snatch a 1-0 win at Rotherham.
Neither side went into the break deserving the lead, but County stepped things up in the second half and won it thanks to Kyle Wootton’s goal.
Rotherham’s Jamal Baptiste had a decent chance to open the scoring but miscued a volley off target after a Jordan Hugill header fell his way.
Stockport cut through Rotherham with an incisive ball from Ollie Norwood, but Benony Andresson rushed his shot and it went wide.
The visitors started the second half strongly and Odin Bailey tested Cameron Dawson with a low effort from range.
They went ahead after 60 minutes with Norwood’s cross turned in by Wootton.
Substitute Nathan Lowe then had two chances to add to the lead. His first effort was kept out by Dawson and his second, from Jayden Fevrier’s pass, was straight at the keeper.
Ethan Pye should also have made it two late on, but he misdirected his header from Norwood’s free-kick.
