Halifax get better of Gateshead again with narrow win

Halifax continued their dominance against Gateshead by winning 2-1 on the road in the National League.

Jay Turner-Cooke and David Kawa struck as Town, who have not lost to Gateshead since 2000, came from behind to win a game that featured three first-half penalties.

Josh Hmami’s penalty was saved by Gateshead goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks early on before Kain Adom struck from the spot at the other end in the 33rd minute.

Turner-Cooke took over spot-kick duties when Halifax were awarded their second in the 37th minute and he sent the keeper the wrong way to level the game.

And Halifax won it in the 61st minute when Kawa burst clear of the home defence before slotting under Brooks.
