Leicester manager Marti Cifuentes, admitted he was frustrated by his team’s 0-0 draw with Coventry at the King Power Stadium.
Coventry goalkeeper, Carl Rushworth, on loan from Brighton, produced a man-of-the-match display to deny Leicester a third successive home win in the Sky Bet Championship.
Rushworth made nine saves, including a second stop from Stephy Mavididi, who squandered Leicester’s best chance.
Cifuentes, whose side remain unbeaten in four Sky Bet Championship games, said: “I am never, ever happy with a draw, I definitely felt that we could have taken the three points.
“But we played against a good team. Frank Lampard has done a great job at Coventry since taking over. But we couldn’t find any great solutions.
“Some improvement is needed but, at the same time, the feeling is that after a draw away from home last week, here is where we needed the three points.
“It’s the second game running where the goalkeeper has made the difference. So it is frustrating.
He continued: “We had perhaps three big chances to score, in my opinion, for us, with Jordan James, Julian Carranza and Stephy Mavididi.
“But I hope we can use our resources well this season. Jeremy Monga always looks good when he comes on, but he has competition for places. And Abdul Fatawu completed 90 minutes for the first time since his injury.”
Coventry boss Lampard praised Rushworth’s display but was also happy to see the team’s other side of their game, as they extended their unbeaten run to six matches.
After scoring 15 goals in five games, Lampard saw his defence hold firm against a team relegated from the Premier League last season.
He said: “Our attacking game was slightly off. We weren’t as slick as we have been lately, but we have to respect the opposition there. When called upon, the players defended diligently.
“You’re not going to have all the game against Leicester. You have to defend well and, at some moment, you might rely on your goalkeeper.
“I thought he had a really good game. He made some saves that he should save but he was very clean with them. When called upon, he did his job. And the Mavididi one was the big chance for them.
“I’m pleased the lads had this test, because it was a tough match and we got a clean sheet and a point.
“When you look at the underlying factors of how well we’re defending, there’s been some freak stuff, some goals have come out of nowhere. It’s our job to ask ourselves if we can be more secure.
“People might get excited about how we’ve started, our performance levels have been really high. But over the duration of the season, you’ll see teams like Leicester, Ipswich or Southampton, with power in their squads.”
