James Balagizi’s added-time goal preserved Robbie Savage’s Forest Green’s unbeaten Enterprise National League record but a 1-1 home draw with Scunthorpe means they lose top spot.
The visitors took a second-minute lead when Declan Howe reacted sharply to net from close range after a corner was not cleared.
Kyle McAllister struck the woodwork for the home side in the ninth minute, before goalkeeper Luke McNicholas prevented Carlton Ubaezuounu doubling the lead in the second half.
However, after Scunthorpe goalkeeper Rory Watson denied Jayden Clarke and fellow substitute Yahya Bamba, Balagizi scrambled an equaliser in the eighth minute of added time to earn the hosts a point.
