Barnet keeper Cieran Slicker saves two penalties in win over Crewe

Barnet keeper Cieran Slicker saved two penalties as the Bees came from behind to earn a 2-1 victory at Crewe.

Slicker denied Josh March and Max Sanders after Lee Ndlovu’s close-range finish cancelled out Tommi O’Reilly’s stunning opener for the hosts.

Ryan Glover then fired in a late winner for the visitors after Adam Senior headed against the bar.

March had an effort blocked on the line by Kane Smith and Slicker denied O’Reilly in the first half.

Aston Villa youngster O’Reilly showed a classy touch when running onto Owen Lunt’s pass and thrashing a left-footed effort past Slicker from 20 yards in the 54th minute.

But Barnet took little time drawing level as Senior’s low cross slipped through to Ndlovu who had a tap-in from five yards.

When Sanders was tripped by Nnamdi Ofoborh on the hour mark Crewe had an opportunity to restore their lead, but Slicker dived to his right to push away March’s kick.

Then when Lunt was clipped in the box by Danny Collinge, Slicker produced more heroics to divert Sanders’ kick with his leg onto the upright after 71 minutes.

The Bees grabbed a winner with 10 minutes remaining when Ofoborh’s powerful shot was parried by Tom Booth, Senior’s rebound hit the bar and Glover slotted in from a tight angle.
