Barnsley hold on against Reading to stretch unbeaten run

Barnsley extended their unbeaten home record in League One after edging out Reading 3-2 at Oakwell.

The Reds took a deserved lead in the ninth minute after centre-back Josh Earl headed in from a Caylan Vickers corner.

Murphy Cooper found himself in no man’s land in the 35th minute having misjudged Lewis Wing’s ball over the top to Jack Marriott.

The summer signing still had plenty to do but calmly looped the ball into the net from 20 yards to equalise.

Davis Keillor-Dunn restored Barnsley’s lead after 55 minutes when Luca Connell’s superb pass found Nathanael Ogbeta and his cross was headed home by the forward.

Adam Phillips made it 3-1 from the penalty spot four minutes later after Ashqar Ahmed was adjudged to have brought down Ogbeta in the penalty area.

Daniel Kyerewaa pulled one back for the visitors in the 66th minute with a powerful strike into the bottom corner but his side were unable to find an equaliser.
