Shrewsbury and Accrington still searching for first win after goalless draw

Shrewsbury played out a 0-0 draw at home to Accrington to leave both teams winless in League Two.

Isaac England laid a ball off to Will Boyle, who drove to the edge of the box and unleashed a shot early on, but his effort was parried away by Stanley goalkeeper Ollie Wright.

Just past the 20th minute, Shrews’ Tom Sang played a low driven cross to the back post which reached Callum Stewart but his shot whistled past the post.

Minutes later, Stanley’s Charlie Caton got his head to a floated cross into the box but Sam Clucas was on hand to clear the effort off the line.

Tyler Walton wriggled his way past pressure just past the half-hour mark for the visitors but his edge-of-the-box effort went wide.

Boyle went close again for Shrewsbury early in the second half but Charlie Brown managed to make a last-ditch clearance.

Shrewsbury substitute Luca Hoole sent an inviting ball across the face of goal with just under 10 minutes remaining but nobody was at the back post to poke home.
