Lincoln head coach Michael Skubala hailed substitute Ben House’s winner after he secured the Imps’ place in the third round of the Carabao Cup with a superbly-taken 89th-minute effort in a 1-0 win over Burton.
A disappointing first half with no real chances opened up after the break, with the Lincoln boss eventually grateful to his bench.
“It’s a job well done and what an outstanding goal to win it,” Skubala said.
“Second half we made a few tactical tweaks and then the bench came on and added a bit of intensity to the game.
“There were some good performances from the lads who started and then some good performances from the subs and what a goal to get us into the hat for the next round.
“We had some decent chances and even though it took a wonder-goal we deserved to go through.”
Burton head coach Gary Bowyer had nothing but praise for his young and inexperienced side who fought all the way and were so close to forcing penalties.
“The effort was magnificent,” Bowyer said of his side that showed nine changes from the weekend.
“You look at the age of our team. James Collins for Lincoln had more appearances in his career than the whole of our team!
“Both of us made changes from the weekend but they are able to bring on what they did and we have taken them all the way and that is a huge credit to our young lads.”
