ParisLongchamp absentee Hotazhell rerouted to Irish 2,000 Guineas

Hotazhell has had his sights switched to the Tattersalls Irish 2,000 Guineas at the Curragh later this month.

Jessica Harrington’s Futurity Trophy winner was all set to make his seasonal return in Sunday’s Poule d’Essai des Poulains at ParisLongchamp, won by Henri Matisse, but he was declared a non runner due to unsuitable ground.

Hotazhell had finished a length behind Henri Matisse in a Group Two at the Curragh last season before going on to Group One glory at Doncaster where he beat O’Brien’s Delacroix, who has subsequently won the Ballysax and the Derby Trial at Leopardstown.

“He’ll go to the Irish Guineas now, all being well,” said Harrington.

“We just felt the ground was a bit too fast for him in France.

“Hopefully we’ll get to run him at the Curragh.”
