Substitute Danny Johnson rescued a late point for Walsall as a closely-fought battle with fellow promotion chasers Doncaster ended 2-2.
Goals from Luke Molyneux and Billy Sharp had twice seen Doncaster take the lead as they looked to return to the automatic promotion places.
But Taylor Allen and Johnson found crucial equalisers as Walsall remained top of League Two.
The game was tight throughout with both sides smothering each other for long periods and ensuring few clear-cut chances.
Rovers took the lead on 16 minutes when Molyneux latched onto a fizzed pass from Owen Bailey and drilled low in at the near post from the edge of the box.
Walsall levelled within two minutes after Oisin McEntee’s superb cross was met with a looping header from Allen.
Doncaster moved back in front after 84 minutes when an excellent turn from Jordan Gibson on the left gave him space to send in a low delivery which Sharp flicked in.
But Walsall pounced in the 90th minute, with Johnson heading in from close range after Jamille Matt saw a shot parried by Ted Sharman-Lowe.
