Late goal earns Oldham a point against Rochdale

Vimal Yoganathan scored a late equaliser for Oldham to draw 1-1 with rivals Rochdale in the National League.

The Dale struck just five minutes into the game when Jay Bird smashed a volley into the corner from outside of the box.

They came close to a second minutes later when Sam Beckwith sent a shot wide, while Oldham had opportunities to level before the break when Mike Fondop’s effort was blocked, followed by Reagan Ogle nodding wide from a corner.

Kairo Mitchell fired over the crossbar as Rochdale looked to extend their lead and the Latics threatened again when Fondop headed over from Jake Leake’s cross.

Oldham eventually pulled one back in the 85th minute when a cleared cross fell into the path of Yoganathan, who nodded home to earn a point.
