Richard Kone’s stoppage-time equaliser kept Wycombe in the automatic promotion places in League One as they snatched a 1-1 draw at Peterborough.
The Chairboys trailed to Malik Mothersille’s penalty at the Weston Homes Stadium but found a response in the nick of time to stay second, ahead of Wrexham on goal difference.
Peterborough took the lead in the 16th minute through a nerveless Mothersille spot kick after Abraham Odoh had been fouled by Josh Scowen.
Wycombe goalkeeper Will Norris almost gifted the Posh a second goal in first-half stoppage time when he fumbled Hector Kyprianou’s harmless-looking strike against a post before opposite number Jed Steer denied Dan Udoh moments later at the other end.
Kone, the Chairboys’ top scorer, then came within a whisker of equalising six minutes into the second half when his shot smashed against an upright.
Just when it looked as though the visitors were heading for a damaging defeat, Kone came to their rescue three minutes into added time by converting after Luke Leahy’s shot was deflected into his path.
