Halifax scored twice in the last five minutes to secure a 4-3 victory against National League opponents Aldershot at the Recreation Ground.
Jamie Cooke and Zak Emmerson found the target after Aldershot had fought back from a two-goal interval deficit.
Halifax settled quickly, and they were ahead after 18 minutes when Billy Waters netted before they struck again 15 minutes later courtesy of Andrew Oluwabori, whose skill and composure saw him double the lead.
Aldershot needed a response, and it arrived within a minute of the second-half starting when Ryan Jones’ pass found Ashley Akpan, and he finished strongly.
It was the prelude to an impressive second-half display, and James Henry’s equaliser 11 minutes from time looked to be enough for a share of points until Halifax’s late show, while Jack Barham claimed Aldershot’s third during stoppage time.
