Rotherham battle back to beat 10-man Reading

Rotherham made it back-to-back wins in League One after coming from behind to see off 10-man Reading 2-1.

The Millers had trailed at the break but second-half goals from Sam Nombe and Hakeem Odoffin ensured three points for Steve Evans’ team.

The first moment of quality in the match produced the opening goal.

Lewis Wing, a one-time Miller loanee, lashed a free-kick from the edge of the box into the top corner after 26 minutes.

It provoked a decent Rotherham response with Jonson Clarke-Harris’ header forcing a diving stop from David Button.

Rotherham levelled the scores in the 49th minute with Joe Powell’s low cross being turned in at the near post by Nombe.

The second goal arrived just seven minutes later when a cross was hung high into the box from Joe Rafferty and nodded in on the goal-line by Odoffin.

Nombe was inches away from his second with a curling effort which had to be touched wide by Button.

Reading’s second half went from bad to worse when Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan was given a second yellow card for crashing into Rafferty.
