A SUCCESSFUL opening weekend for the Limerick national league basketball teams saw all four sides get their first wins of the season.

In a strange turn of events, Limerick celtics game against SETU Waterford, was abandoned after the third quarter due to condensation on the court making it unplayable.

Celtics were winning the game at this point and due to the unsafe conditions they were awarded the victory.

Limerick sport huskies have also gotten off to a superb start with a confident win over Tolka Rovers at the UL arena. Both teams got off to a rapid start, matching each other with points scored in the opening quarters but Tolka struggled in the third quarter only scoring four points.

Scott Frame lead the way on the scoreboard for huskies with 33 points giving them a 72-57 win.

Limerick celtics women's team had a strong performance against Marble city hawks on their home court. Celtics were complemented by the return of center Sabhbh Edwards Murphy.

Both Samantha Coleman and Lucy Devoy scored big for Celtics to keep their comfortably ahead for the entire game. They eventually won on a scoreline of 85-54.
