A Mooreabbey Milers AC group after the Clogheen 5km event
ALL was a little quieter on the athletics front this past week after a number of weekends packed with national finals.
Banna 5k and 10k
Padraig O'Donnell of West Limerick finished in 4h place in the 5K in a time 17:43
Clubmate Karl Lenihan won the 10k race, finishing in 1st place in a time of 33:50.
Clogheen 5k
Well done to Niall O'Callaghan who was 3rd in a time of 16:16.
Other placings included Niall O Riordan - An Bru AC - 16:40, Derek Kiely - Limerick AC - 16:53, Kevin Johnson - Dooneen AC - 17:58. ,Annette O'Reilly - Kilfinane AC - 20:59
Garrykennedy 10K
An Bru’s Gerry Prendergast was 3rd overall in 45:35.
Triathlon
Congratulations to Limerick Triathlon Club members Ronan Costelloe and Kathryn Fahy who were both second in the Hills of the Harbour’ sprint Triathlon in Whitegate Co Cork.
International
Victoria Amiadamen in the 400m hurdles is amongst 32 athletes selected to represent Ireland this week at the European U23 Championships in Jerusalem from until August 10.
Sarah Lavin set her fifth PB in six days at the Citius Altius meeting in Bern, Switzerland. Her time of 12.67 seconds in the final, where she finished 5th, brings her to within 0.02 secs of Derval O’Rourke’s Irish record dating to 2010.
Miscellaneous
Theresa Hughes of West Limerick AC is on a mission to run a race in every county in Ireland in 2023. She is raising money for Rape Crisis Midwest, Diabetes Ireland and Alzheimer's Ireland.

The Curraghchase 10K Run Walk takes place this Sunday August 13 at 11am in aid of the Butterfly Club - a voluntary run social club for children and teenagers.

The National Masters T&F Championships take place next weekend in Tullamore. Dooneen’s Shane O’Sullivan warmed up by winning his guest heat of the 200m in the Galway Masters in 24.91.
The Limerick County Senior & Juvenile U10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 Cross Country Championships take place in Newcastle West on Sunday September 24, preceded by Intermediate a week earlier in Bilboa.
