Dromcollogher Festival
THE Dromcollogher 4-mile road race was held as part of the Dromcollogher Festival with 119 runners taking part. On a course almost identical to the recent County Championshio Karl Lenihan was first home in a time of 21 mins 3 secs.
He was followed in second and third by Clubmates Aogan MacDomhnaill in 21:19 and Aaron Lynch in 21:43. 2016 Olympian Lizzie Lee of Leevale AC was first Woman in a new course record time of 22m 32 secs with Clubmate Carol Finn second (24:41) and Siobhan Daly of An Riocht third (26:02) third.
Also Kate Murray 26:45, Tony McMahon 26:47.
National Outdoor Children's Games
JULY 1st saw athletes travel to Tullamore for the first day of the National Outdoor Children's Games and U12 U13 Championships Juvenile National Championships.
It was a successful day for Dooneen and Limerick AC with plenty of medals accompanying them on their way home.
Highlights for Dooneen included the Boys U13 4x100m relay where Samuel Addae, Cian O'Donnell, Jay Collins and Robert Purtill came first in a time of 55.09 secs.
Samuel Addae also took bronze in his 80m sprint in his first national finals. In the Boys U11 Long Jump pair sof Andrew Birmingham (4.07m) and Michael McCloskey (3.69m) combined to claim Gold. Gyte Andrijauskaute claimed Silver in Girls u13 Shot Put (10.70m) and Javelin (29.64m). In the boys U12 Shot Put Lavr Malejevs took Silver with a throw of 11.47m.
Limerick AC also had a successful day as Killian Coman took Bronze in the U12 600m. Tom Keogh took Gold in the 600m and Jack Ryan won Silver in the 60m. Joshua Bowen, Tom Keogh, Jack Ryan and Patrick Keogh finished 4th in the 4x100m 11 relay, just pipped for Bronze by the of smallest margin.
At U12 the 4x100m relay team of Killian Coman, Oisín McGuiness, Rian Kiely Keogan and Myles Anderson were just edged out for a national medal by a few hundreds of a second.
IN Sunday's U20 and U23 events Limerick AC’s Darragh Murphy took Gold in the U20 200m in 22:02 with Clubmate Aaron O’Connor 5th in the U20 Triple Jump.
Emerald’s Ciara Sheehy again excelled at multiple events, taking Gold in the U23 Shot Put (12.66), Discus (42.27) and was 2nd in the Weight for Distance. Clubmate Nathan Sheehy Cremin won the U23 800m in 1:56.24.
Around the Country
IDE Nic Domnhnaill was 2nd in the St. Coca’s 5K in a time of 15:47 in Kilkock Co. Kildare, also Niall Shanahan 15:27, Niall O'Riordan 16:22 and Gary Egan 17:04.
Sarah Lavin set a new 100mh PB of 12.73 secs in the Diamond League meet in Stockholm.
FIXTURES
The Juvenile All Ireland T&F championships continue next weekend with the U14-U19 age groups.
The 38th annual Dundrum AC hosted Coiltte 10K takes place this Wednesday night at 8pm.
The Moreabbey Milers 10 Mile takes place this Sunday at 11am in Galbally.
