THE well-known Clipper Logistics colours were carried to success for the first time by a Willie McCreery-trained runner as 11/4 chance Collage scored a narrow success in the median auction maiden over the extended seven and a half furlongs at Tipperary on Tuesday.
Ridden by Ballingarry jockey Billy Lee, the three-year-old led over a furlong from the finish and battled well to see off Jim Bolger’s Golden spangle by a shorthead.
Limerick jockey Lee gave trainer Henry de Bromhead a winner at Fairyhouse on Thursday as Matt Connor, named after the All-Ireland winning footballer, landed the 10-furlong handicap for three-year-olds at Fairyhouse on Thursday. The 3/1 favourite had a good deal in hand as he beat the Andy Oliver-trained 100/30 chance Picture Of A City by a length and a half in the colours of the Patocallaghanracing Syndicate.
Half a length was the winning margin as Lee completed a double on 7/1 chance Cherry Bloom in the opening division of the six-furlong handicap. Trained by his sister, Gillian Scott, the four-year-old headed the Joe Murray-trained Florence Thompson close to the finish to score for the Cherry Bloom Syndicate.
Billy Lee’s fine run continued as he shared another winner with Willie McCreery as 8/11 favourite Fernao ran away with the concluding eight-furlong maiden. Owned and bred by Ballylinch Stud, the four-year-old led early in the straight and powered home to win by six lengths from the Dick Brabazon-trained God Knows.
