ALL EYES will be on Limerick Greyhound Stadium tonight with round two of the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial taking place. A total of 48 Limerick GAA clubs are still in the running for the top prize of €10,000, which is on offer when finals night takes place on Friday, April 21.
Round one didn’t disappoint with several top-class performances on show from last Saturday's action. This was the 10th hosting of the prestigious event at Limerick and the occasion was marked by the presentation of a specially commissioned medal to the connections of the 72 greyhounds who took to traps.
The reigning RPGTV Juvenile Derby Champion, Clona Duke, came into the Classic fresh from an exceptional 28.13 trial around the Munster venue and he built on that performance with a devastating display in heat three.
Coming up against some hugely talented rivals, they were no match for Kevin O’Brien and Graham Holland’s tracker as he blew holes in the field in his bid for an historic juvenile double.
Heat six saw another standout performance as Scaglietti made it six wins from just eleven starts for Pat Guilfoyle and Cheryl Sutcliffe.
In the opening heat, Road Exile got the Classic off to a flier as he made it five wins from as many starts. Jack Kennelly and Leonard O’Hanlon have a lovely prospect on their hands as Beepers Lariat landed heat two in style.
Round 2 takes place this evening with 48 Limerick GAA clubs hoping to get closer to that €10,000 prize. All the Round 2 details are below.
