The Republic of Ireland squad will compete in the upcoming Bob Docherty Cup Under 15 Girls’ International Tournament in Scotland
TWO Limerick players have veen included in the 18-strong Republic of Ireland Schools U15 squad for their title defence of the Bob Docherty Cup which kicks off in Glasgow next month.
Chloe Wallace, of Coláiste Nano Nagle, Sexton Street, is one of two players included from last season’s squad.
The talented Wallace Captained the Republic of Ireland U15 Schools side to a one-all draw with Northern Ireland over two weeks ago.
The second Limerick players to be named in head coach Richard Berkeley's squad for the Bob Docherty Cup is the highly rated Madison McGuane, of Ardscoil Mhuire, Corbally.
McGuane was among the goalscorers for Pike Rovers in their 2-0 U12 SFAI National Cup final win over Dublin's five-in-a-row seeking St Kevins Boys at Pearse Stadium, Janesboro last May.
The Republic of Ireland Schools U15 side begin their Bob Docherty Cup campaign against the host nation Scotland on Sunday, April 2 in Parklea Playing Fields at 4pm while they enjoy a rest day on Monday.
The penultimate test will see them pitted against England in Renfrew Juniors FC on Tuesday, April 4 with a 4pm kick-off pencilled in. Another rest day in scheduled for Wednesday. The Republic of Ireland will then wrap up proceedings against neighbouring Northern Ireland on Thursday, April 6 at 1pm.
The Republic of Ireland side will be a formidable force in this tournament with eight titles in 19 appearances: the first coming in their debut season back in 2002 in Ballymena.
Twelve months ago, Cochrane Park, Newcastle was the venue as the Republic of Ireland managed to achieve the elusive three in-a-row of Bob Docherty Cup wins.
This year will see only four Nations competing as Wales decided to withdraw from this tournament.
