Munster Rugby's RG Snyman
THE Munster Rugby squad resumed preparations at the High Performance Centre on Monday ahead of Friday night’s URC Round 15 clash against Scarlets at Musgrave Park (7.35pm).
In a significant boost for Munster, the province reports that RG Snyman, who has returned to training with the squad in recent weeks, is available for selection for Friday's game.
South African-born World Cup winner Snyman has made just four appearances in two-and-a-half seasons with Munster following two serious knee injuries. The 27-year-old sustained his initial injury on his debut with the province in August 2020 and was hit with a major setback in the third of three comeback games off the bench in October 2021.
However, the good news for the player himself, the Munster backroom team and supporters is that he is set to return to action.
Munster confirmed that Joey Carbery, Jack Crowley, Gavin Coombes and Roman Salanoa have all been released back to the squad from Ireland camp with no 6 Nations action this weekend.
Ben Healy will also rejoin his Munster team-mates from Scotland camp. Calvin Nash (chest), Jack O’Donoghue (calf), Paddy Patterson (calf) and Jack O’Sullivan (thigh) have all returned to training and their availability will be determined later in the week.
Liam Coombes will begin rehabilitation with the medical department for a thigh injury.
There are just 350 tickets remaining for Friday night's game.
There were seven Munster players in international action with Ireland in the Six Nations Championship in Rome at the weekend.
Craig Casey made his first 6 Nations start against Italy in Rome with Jack Crowley making his 6 Nations debut off the bench.
Dave Kilcoyne, Peter O’Mahony and Conor Murray also featured as Ireland made it three bonus-point wins in three games.
The Ireland U20s have also secured maximum points with Academy pair Ruadhán Quinn and Evan O’Connell in action against Italy alongside fellow Munster men Brian Gleeson, Danny Sheahan and Jacob Sheahan.
There were 10 Munster players in AIL action for their clubs at the weekend.
Six players featured in the Limerick derby between Garryowen and Shannon at Dooradoyle.
Kieran Ryan, Darragh McSweeney and Daniel Okeke helped Shannon to the win as Cian Hurley, Tony Butler and Mark Donnelly lined out for Garryowen with Butler kicking three penalties and a conversion.
A Young Munster side featuring Dan Goggin, Patrick Campbell and Shay McCarthy beat Ballynahinch with Campbell and McCarthy both touching down.
Daniel Hurley was a try-scorer for Cork Constitution as they were beaten by UCD.
Continuing to rehab: Keith Earls (calf), Tadhg Beirne (ankle), James French (leg), Liam O’Connor (neck), Chris Moore (neck), Mike Haley (ankle), Tom Ahern (shoulder), Eoin O’Connor (shoulder), Paddy Kelly (head), Jack Daly (knee), Andrew Conway (knee).
