Members of St Michael's Rowing Club and Limerick Suicide Watch at the launch of the fundraising ROWathon that takes place this weekend.
ST MICHAEL'S Rowing Club are looking to start 2023 with a bang by with a fundraising Wild Atlantic Way ROWathon. The club members and supporters will row, run, cycle, hike and walk as many kilometers as possible this weekend.
The aim is to hit the 2,600 km mark, which is the official distance of Ireland's Wild Atlantic Way. The fundraiser is in partnership with Limerick Suicide Watch, with 30% of funds raised going to going to the charity. The rest of monies raised will go towards new equipment for St Michael's Rowing Club.
The event kicks off at 7am on this Friday, January 6 with the Moore Limerick 5km Run from the rowing club. St Michaels squads will be rowing from 9am on Saturday in the clubhouse with two-hour slot on the ergometer rowing machines. Crews will then take to the water on Sunday to continue ROWathon.
There will also be St Michael's Rowing Club exiles based in New York, Sydney and all over the world taking part in the event. Members of the public are also encouraged to get involved by submitting their efforts as the club virtually travels from Derry to Kerry over the 2,600km Wild Atlantic Way trek.
