ENNIS Book Club Festival returns from March 1-3 with a vibrant programme of live events and activities for book lovers of all ages. Leading international and national contributors will feature over three days, discussing fiction and memoir, poetry and current affairs and the festival promises lively literary encounters all weekend.
Book Quiz, walking tours, the Literary Lunch and evening performances will add to an exciting weekend in one of Ireland’s friendliest towns.
The weekend includes writers Sinéad Gleeson and Claire Kilroy in conversation with Edel Coffey and a Crime Fiction event with authors Denise Mina, Doug Johnstone and Andrea Mara in conversation with Andrea Carter.
Other events will include Paula Meehan, Theo Dorgan and Alice Kinsella, who will read from their latest collections. There will be Debut Novelists, Writers from the West, including Una Mannion and Mike McComack and Memoir with Martin Doyle and Eimear Ryan.
Saturday will feature literature from outside of Ireland in Beyond Borders and a festival favourite, Ten Books You Should Read, with Ronán Hession and Liam Ó Maonlaí.

The festival is delighted to welcome Pulitzer finalist Rebecca Makkai to Ennis on Saturday, March 2, where she will be in conversation with Belinda McKeon in glór Theatre.
The festival will include a number of Fringe events this year including a magical concert featuring Rónán Ó Snodaigh and Myles O’Reilly, along with some surprise guests, and the duo’s soulful blend of folk, traditional, and ambient music.
Events for children and young adults will include Ellen Ryan in conversation with Sarah Moore Fitzgerald and Paula Meehan will host an event for Leaving Cert students on March 1.
The Sunday Symposium offers a lively discussion from a panel that includes Justine McCarthy and Dr Rory Hearne on the subject of Breaking the Cycle of Poverty.
The festival will close with Theo Dorgan as the guest speaker at the Literary Lunch.
