Ahane National School is a mixed primary school at the crossroads of Laught, Lisnagry in the parish of Ahane-Castleconnell Co. Limerick. It is approximately five miles from Limerick City and two miles from the main Limerick/Dublin road.
There are eight classes in the school, which has an enrolment of approximately 160 pupils.

The school works in partnership with parents, staff, the Parents Association and Board of Management to provide enriched learning experiences for pupils. They have a strongly developed holistic approach to pupil development and education. With this in mind, they promote a wide range of extracurricular activities including Sport, Wellbeing, Science, Art and Gardening.
Sports activities are central to school life. Pupil participate in Athletics, Swimming, Hurling, Camogie, Gaelic football and Soccer. Wellbeing and positive mental health are core values in the school. In 2023, they were awarded the Amber flag for the promotion of positive mental health.
Wellness week is celebrated annually and includes yoga, dance, walks, mindfulness activities and creating an awareness of the importance of a healthy balanced lifestyle.

Pupils are involved in a range of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) activities. Pupils participate annually in the Science Blast project in Mary Immaculate College and in the Analog Devices Robotics Competition.
Pupils part-take in the Junior Entrepreneur Project (JEP) annually where they learn to develop business and entrepreneurial skills.
On a creative and artistic level, the school participated in the Creative Schools Project where they linked in with local artists to enhance pupils’ artistic experience and skills. They also run afterschool art classes.

They value Irish culture and heritage and provide opportunities for children to play music and contribute to school ceremonies and celebrations.
Ahane National School pupils also have access to the local Limerick Secondary Schools including Castletroy College through the Limerick Area Post-Primary Schools’ Common Application System. Pupils can choose to access St. Mary's Secondary School Newport and Newport College through direct application to the schools.

Ahane National School recently celebrated 200 years of education in the parish. The historic occasion was marked with a Bicentennial Week of celebrations, including a visit from the Australian Ambassador, a visit from the Mayor of Limerick for a tree planting ceremony, the burying of a time capsule and a visit from a local historian.
Ahane School provides this complete education of learning and life skills for pupils with the support of the school community reflecting their school motto, Ní neart go cur le chéile (There’s strength in unity).
