Limerick Women’s and Schoolgirls Soccer League (LWSSL) reigning champions Aisling Annacotty
THE 2026 Limerick Women’s and Schoolgirls Soccer League (LWSSL) season officially kicks off on Tuesday, April 21, with 12 clubs competing across two divisions.
Division 1
Division 1 features five teams, with each club playing three rounds of fixtures in what promises to be a highly competitive campaign.
Newly promoted Murroe join the top tier after an outstanding 2025 season, where they secured both the Division 2 league title and cup.
They line up alongside reigning champions Aisling Annacotty, who enjoyed a remarkable year - winning the Division 1 league, the Open Cup, and the Division 1 Cup.
Also competing are Junior Cup winners Newtown Rovers, along with Moyross and a newly reformed Holycross side, both of whom will be eager to make a strong impact.
The opening Division 1 fixture takes place on Tuesday, April 21, with Holycross hosting Murroe at 6:30pm.
Division 2
Division 2 features seven teams and looks set to deliver a fiercely competitive season.
Regional, runners-up in a thrilling Junior Cup final against Division 1 side Newtown Rovers, will be hoping to build on their strong recent form.
Ballylanders, Lough Derg, and Kilfrush Crusaders will each be aiming to challenge at the top in what promises to be a tightly contested division.
Rounding out the division are Mungret Regional, Bridge Celtic, and Herberstown, all of whom will be looking to make their mark after competing strongly in division 1 in recent seasons.
Opening Fixtures for division 2 take place on Tuesday, April 21 (6:30pm KO unless stated otherwise) with Ballylanders vs Bridge Celtic (Ballylanders) and Kilfrush Crusaders vs Lough Derg (Elton Sports Fields)
