Limerick midfielder Aoibheann Clancy in action for the Republic of Ireland's Women's Development Team last month
A TALENTED Limerick midfielder has been called up to the Ireland Women's squad for their upcoming UEFA Nations League back-to-back games with Greece.
Kilbehenny native Aoibheann Clancy is included in Head Coach Carla Ward's squad for the away game with Greece on Friday, April 4 and the home game against the same opponents at Tallaght Stadium on Tuesday, April 8.
Limerick woman Clancy, who has played Ladies Gaelic football with Galtee Gaels, is currently playing with Women's Premier Division side, Shelbourne and has impressed for the Dublin side in their SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division fixtures.
The Limerick native earned her only Ireland Women's team senior cap in November 2022 against Morocco in an international friendly in the Marbella Football Center.
Clancy, who played with Limerick FC in the past as well as Wexford Youths, has also represented Ireland at under-age level.
These will be the third and fourth games in Group 2 in League B as Ireland look to pick up maximum points following a loss away to Slovenia and a home win over Türkiye.
Louise Quinn, Tara O’Hanlon, Megan Connolly, Jamie Finn, Lily Agg and Jess Ziu were all unavailable for selection, while defender Chloe Mustaki and forward Saoirse Noonan are included for the first time since the 2023-24 UEFA Nations League campaign.
The squad will link up this Sunday, March 30 to begin preparing for the two games with sessions in the FAI National Training Centre.
