TREATY United's Madison McGuane has been selected on the Irish women's U17 squad that will travel to Spain for the UEFA Women's Under-17 European Championship Round One Qualifiers.
The team will play their first game of the qualifiers against Spain on Thursday, November 14 at 10am.
The talented midfielder came through the club ranks at Pike Rovers schoolboy teams and was the only girl on the U12 boys Pike Rovers team in 2022 who famously won the National Cup.
McGuane signed for Treaty United Carelon Academy at the start of this year after departing Pike Rovers.
Earlier this year the Ardscoil Mhuire pupil was picked on the same U17 squad for two international friendlies against Portugal in Lisbon, performing well for the Irish side during these fixtures.
The Girls in Green have recently played five games against Northern Ireland, Portugal & Cymru, to prepare for these Group A6 games and have been clicking well.
Head Coach James Scott knows the challenge to advance further in this competition will be difficult after being drawn into a difficult group, but it is a task that his players and support staff will embrace.
Scott will have Stephanie Zambra as part of his coaching staff as she starts on the Player to Coach Programme that was recently introduced as part of the Football Pathways Plan.
The squad includes players who helped Shelbourne and Shamrock Rovers win the EA SPORTS LOI WU19 & WU17 Cups respectively, while Athlone Town's Maeve Wollmer featured in both of those Finals as well as the Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup Final.
