St Munchin's College and Glenstal Abbey eye crucial Munster Schools Senior Cup fixtures

TWO Limerick sides are involved in knock-out Pinergy Munster Schools Boys Senior Cup ties later today, Thursday.

There are five Limerick schools in contention to lift the Munster Schools Senior Cup title in March, Árdscoil Rís, Castletroy College, Crescent College Comprehensive, Glanstal Abbey and St Munchin's College.

During the first half of this season, schools from throughout the province played in a round-robin format in two groups in both competitions to determine their seeding for the knockout stages which begin next week.

St Munchin's College will take on Hamilton High School Bandon in Round 1 of the knock-out stages of the Cup today, Thursday, at Thomond Park, 1.30pm.

The winner will go on to play Ardscoil Rís in Round 2.

Meanwhile, in today, Thursday's other first round game, Glenstal Abbey will take on Bandon Grammar School  at Virgin Media Park in Cork with the winner going on to face 2015 winners Rockwell College in Fethard Town Park.

MEANWHILE, in Round 1 of the Munster Schools Boys Junior Cup, Ardscoil Ris will take on Clonakilty Community College, who won the Junior Cup qualifier, at Thomond Park on Wednesday next, January 22.

The winners of this clash will be away to last season’s beaten finalists CBC in Round 2. Elsewhere, Crescent College Comprehensive will meet Glenstal Abbey in their all-Limerick Round 1 fixture also on Wednesday next with the winner then going on to meet Bandon Grammar in Round 2.
